It’s a Small World

It is fascinating to see how a relatively small team of dreamers, thinkers, engineers, etc… can bring ideas to fruition that will be constructed and sold literally around the world.  While the marine industry, by definition, applies to a majority of the earth’s surface, it is still a niche industry.  It is fun to meet with our customers at IBEX and discuss the potential for the coming year.  This year did not disappoint as we were able to discuss cool new projects that promise to bring innovation to another level in this industry…

Opportunities Are Bounded Only by Our Imagination

This is Protomet’s 6th year to display at IBEX.  In 2010, we started with a relatively small 10 x 10 booth and had a very limited amount of product to show at our first IBEX.  Fast forward to 2015 and we are in a 20 x 20 booth showing an assortment of different product lines, most of which are customized to a specific OEM vision for a new boat.

Though some exhibitors mentioned that the show was a little light compared to Tampa, our experience was very different as there seemed to be a constant stream of OEM teams that wanted to check out the newest product and discuss what we could do to help them achieve their vision.  One of the engineers said that the booth allowed him to start visualizing what he could do with aluminum billet and that this would certainly translate into some new opportunities.

As a blank canvas, we advertise that aluminum billet can be used to make just about anything.  This year we gained a new appreciation that having more example product on display helps facilitate the imagination process and imagination is the first step in making things happen.  We certainly look forward to making some of these dreams become a reality…
